All-day July 22 livestream will unite consumers, scientists, physicians, veterans, advocates, and policy experts in a nationwide effort to protect access to 7-OH
LOS ANGELES, CA – July 17, 2026 – 7-HOPE Alliance, a consumer protection non-profit dedicated to science and public education on 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) and kratom, announced the #Save7OH Virtual Rally & Comment-a-thon, a nationwide livestream taking place Wednesday, July 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET.
The free virtual event will bring together consumers, scientists, physicians, veterans, first responders, researchers, policy experts, industry leaders, and advocates from across the United States to educate the public, share personal experiences, discuss the latest science surrounding 7-OH, and encourage Americans to participate in the federal public comment process before the July 31 deadline. Special guest speakers include hosts of the Kratom Gals podcast, Hamilton Morris, Soren Shade, and Leonard Pickard, among many others to be announced.
The announcement comes as public engagement continues to accelerate, with nearly 15000 comments already submitted to the federal docket. Organizers say that while the response has been encouraging, tens of thousands more comments are needed to ensure policymakers hear directly from the people whose lives could be affected.
“We are at the most important moment in our fight to protect access to 7-OH,” said Jackie Subeck, Executive Director of the 7-HOPE Alliance. “With just days remaining before the federal comment deadline, every voice matters. More than 15,000 Americans have already submitted comments to HHS, sending a powerful message that removing access to these products would impact countless lives. But we’re just getting started. We expect this to be the largest event in the history of the 7-OH and kratom communities. On July 22, we’ll come together from across the country to educate, advocate, and show policymakers exactly who we are. Together, we’ll use our collective voices to tell HHS and the nation that responsible adults deserve to be heard—and that together, we must #Save7OH.”
The livestream follows the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ publication of a Request for Information (RFI) seeking public input on a proposed threshold that could trigger Schedule I control of products containing 7-hydroxymitragynine above a specified concentration. While the RFI does not itself schedule 7-OH, advocates say the proposal could have sweeping implications for consumer access if adopted without meaningful public input.
Throughout the day, viewers will hear from a diverse lineup of speakers covering topics including:
- Consumer stories and lived experiences
- Scientific research and safety data
- Perspectives from physicians and healthcare professionals
- Veterans and first responders discussing pain management and recovery
- Federal policy updates and educational presentations
- Live panel discussions and audience Q&A
- Real-time updates on the national public comment campaign
Unlike a traditional conference, attendees are encouraged to participate however their schedules allow.
“People can tune in for ten minutes or stay all day,” Subeck said. “We want this to be an interactive national gathering where people can learn, ask questions, connect with others, and help amplify this movement.”
7-HOPE Alliance is also hearing about how supporters across the country are organizing their own independent watch parties and community gatherings while participating online throughout the day.
A major objective of the event is to drive nationwide awareness by encouraging participants to share their stories on social media using #Save7OH, with the goal of making the issue visible to policymakers, media, and the broader public during the final days of the federal comment period.
