The Assignment
This hearing is a recommendation from public health to the county board on what to do about kratom and 7OH in LA county based on the incorrect assessment that 6 people overdosed and died after using kratom and/or 7OH.
This is our opportunity to intervene before misinformation causes an outright ban of the botanical in LA county.
We only have 30 seconds to 1 minute to speak. That is not enough time to make an individual argument or share your personal story.
Our action is joining together collectively and making clear kratom and 7OH are important wellness, harm reduction tools consumers and constituents do not want banned.
If you are an LA resident or work in LA, be sure to state that up front. If you aren’t, it’s still OK to call in and speak.
Suggested 30 second statements:
My name is Lily Santiago. I live in LA County and am a veteran and 7OH consumer, using the botanical for chronic pain and PTSD. I support further study of kratom and 7OH, not a ban. I support reasonable regulation, not prohibition. Thank you.
My name is Darius Marks. I work in LA County every day and am a 7OH consumer. I use both kratom and 7OH as part of my harm reduction toolkit. I encourage further study of this botanical, and oppose a ban. I am for reasonable regulation, not prohibition. Thank you.
