MONTANA: PROTECT 7-OH ACCESS
Tell Montana Lawmakers: Regulate Responsibly. Don’t Ban 7-OH.
Montana lawmakers are actively considering the future of kratom and 7-OH, and 7-OH consumers need to be heard now.
There are multiple kratom policy discussions happening in Montana. One committee is considering a Kratom Consumer Protection Act (which as you may know is a defacto 7-OH ban), while another is weighing broader approaches that include prohibition.
The problem is simple:
A law can protect traditional kratom while still leaving 7-OH consumers behind.
7-HOPE supports responsible regulation, but we do not support using “kratom reform” as a pathway to ban, criminalize or effectively eliminate access to 7-OH.
WHAT’S HAPPENING
SEPTEMBER 1: LAW AND JUSTICE INTERIM COMMITTEE
The Montana Law and Justice Interim Committee is meeting to discuss kratom policy, including LJIC-PD6, the Kratom Consumer Protection Act.
When: Tuesday, September 1, 2026
Time: 8:30 AM MT
Where: Montana State Capitol, Room 154, Helena
This is an important opportunity to tell lawmakers:
Regulating kratom should not mean sacrificing 7-OH.
SEPTEMBER 10: ECONOMIC AFFAIRS INTERIM COMMITTEE
The Economic Affairs Interim Committee is also considering Montana’s approach to kratom and 7-OH, including competing regulatory and prohibition proposals.
That means the decisions being made now could determine whether responsible adults continue to have access to 7-OH in Montana.

SAMPLE MESSAGE
Dear Members of the Committee,
As you consider kratom policy in Montana, I am asking you to make sure 7-OH consumers are not left behind.
I support responsible regulation, including age restrictions, product testing, accurate labeling and strong manufacturing standards for kratom and all of its derivatives, including 7-OH.
But I do not support banning 7-OH or creating a system that protects access to traditional kratom while eliminating access to 7-OH.
7-OH matters to me because [ADD YOUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCE HERE].
Please pursue a regulatory approach that protects consumers while preserving responsible adult access to both kratom and 7-OH.
Thank you,
